Sunday Offering: Vision

I started this post a few weeks before the pandemic hit our area. I had been working on my vision boards and planned to share all about them but then, COVID, and it just seemed weird to talk about vision. About plans and the future, goals and dreams. I mean… we didn’t even know what the next hour would bring… much less the future.

In the beginning of all of this, I didn’t have much vision. I’ve always been a future thinker. An ideas gal. But I couldn’t quite grasp how to have vision without having any idea what each new day held.

Over these past few weeks, I’ve realized there are things we can still have vision for. Things that are not affected by us not knowing what the immediate future holds… for us personally and for the world.

Vision boards have always been helpful. Seeing it first thing in the morning is a great way to remind myself of where to put my energy and focus. This is the board I created for my bathroom…

The left side is physical and mental health/wellness… a simple note to remind myself to “do one of these… just one” daily. Walk, elliptical, stretch, at home yoga video. All of these can be done in the comfort and safety of my own home.

Below that, a reminder to drink more water. Such an important thing!

Eat fruits and vegetables everyday.

And “do these… do all of these!” Get a good night’s sleep, manage my internet time, take a bath, rest, retreat, have positive self talk.

All things we can have vision for. Purpose. Intent. And all things that will help our physical and mental health/wellness.

The right side is more spiritual… gratitude list, bible verses, inspirational quotes, a cardinal. Things that encourage my spirit.

I love calendars. So, I actually have two in the bathroom… one in the kitchen too. Ha! But the one on this board is for me to keep track of my active calories burned. This is new to me but really does help me to be conscious of being active. I want a healthy heart and mind. Period. And physical activity lends to those two things for me. So that’s all, just wanted to explain what those odd letters and numbers meant on my calendar.

Here’s the deal… we can still have vision. It would be hard to have vision for your finances (if you’re without a job) or your small business (if it is closed right now). But you can have vision for yourself. Your actual SELF… body, mind and spirit.

You don’t have to make a vision board. Just make a list. It can be in your phone, on your wall… wherever you will see it most often.

Happy Sunday, friends. It’s gorgeous here in Texas! I hope it is where you are too!
