Aunt Ruth’s Swedish Coffee Bread by Rebekah

This is a screenshot of me bragging on my friend, Rebekah. We made a cute video almost a year and a half ago when I had the original idea for My Kitchen, Your Recipes, but… for some reason… it does not want to upload. No matter how I do it! So, you get screenshots!

I met Rebekah at Camp Well a couple of years ago. We were there together for 4 days and never really had a chance to talk. The last day I needed someone to drive me down the mountain to meet Micah and she volunteered. We had an hour together and probably learned more about each other in that amount of time than we had learned about anyone else all week.

She has been a blessing to me. She is a Gallup Certified Strengths Coach and College/Career Consultant. So when people jokingly say ” Get your life together!” that’s actually legit what she helps people do!

One of the many things we have in common… love and loss of a parent. She has actually lost both parents. We talked a lot about grief and good memories in our first conversation. I told her about my blog and book idea… meals and memories and she loved it. As the only girl of three children, she inherited a lot of family recipes.

Today we are sharing her Aunt Ruth’s Swedish Coffee Bread. This comes from her mother’s side of the family and was something her mom had at holidays growing up and carried that on to share with her own children (Rebekah and her 2 brothers) throughout the years.

I wanted to share it in her handwriting as she shared it with me. To save this recipe, just save the photo. Also, if you’re a Great British Bake Off fan you’ll be excited to see that this bread uses cardamom. I don’t have many recipes that do! It’s perfect for this cold day in Texas!

Thankful for friends like Rebekah that have shared their family recipes with me. I can’t wait to make more of them!

Rebekah and Micah were the only two My Kitchen, Your Recipes that I was able to do in person. I’ll be making your recipes and telling your stories in my kitchen until you can join me again! I’m more than ready for that day.

And, please, follow Rebekah on Instagram @findyourstrengths. She will be launching a new website soon and like I said, she is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to finding your strengths.

XOXO, Melissa
